Alternative Presents
The workshop offered participants multidisciplinary group work that enabled them to perceive design as a different way of thinking – reflective, critical and socially responsible.
Alternative Presents, a speculative design workshop, took place at the Arts Academy in Split, Croatia, from 23 to 28 March 2015. The aim of the workshop was to imagine alternative presents by questioning today’s use of technology in urban environments. The focus was not the technology itself but on the wider social implication of emerging technologies and the ways in which we interact with them.
Throughout the workshop, participants designed alternative narrative experiences, systems and technologies. The workshop was lead by trans-disciplinary designers Liam Healy and Dionysia Mylonaki from London, with the assistance of Oleg Šuran and Pika Novak from the Institute for Transmedia Design, Ljubljana.
