Structured Dialogue Between the EU Commison and the Cultural Sector – The Voices of Culture
Sara Božanić, Institute for Transmedia Design CEO, has been chosen among 40 EU consultants who work on audience development via digital means and was therefore invited to participate in the ‘Audience Development via Digital Means’ brainstorming session, featuring a discussion on promoting access to culture via digital means (policies and strategies for audience development).
Voices of Culture ‒ a Structured Dialogue between the European Commission and the cultural sector – provides a framework for discussions between EU civil society stakeholders and the European Commission with regard to culture. It aims to strengthen the advocacy capacity of the cultural sector in policy debates on culture at the European level, while encouraging it to work in a more collaborative way.
The Voices of Culture will focus on five themes, all happening up to the end of 2016. The first two themes, ‘Audience Development via Digital Means’ and ‘Participatory Governance of Cultural Heritage’, were discussed in 2015.
Two more themes will be discussed with civil society in 2016. The fifth and the last theme to be discussed at some point during the project will be chosen by the stakeholders.
The brainstorming session took place in Amsterdam and Brussels and gathered around 40 representatives of the cultural sector to discuss a range of different issues related to audience development via digital means and deliver policy recommendations.
