Transmedia Design Masterclass in Budapest
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programme in Documentary Filmmaking DOC NOMADS (EMJMD), run by a group of three renowned European universities from Belgium, Hungary and Portugal, hosted our CEO Sara Božanić for a masterclass on transmedia design and in-depth non-fiction storytelling.
In January of this year, a two-day series of masterclasses entitled “DOC NOMADS ACADEMY” took place in Budapest. Internationally renowned directors, producers, and researchers shared their experience and practice in talks and discussions, and they also took part in workshops on those very topics. The focus this year was on non-fiction transmedia storytelling.
The “Brave New Narratives” masterclass, led by Sara, aimed to explore how documentary filmmakers can use new formats of mass media and narrative to activate difference and provoke audience interaction. The session drew on participants’ skills and experience in the construction of immersive narratives, audience development, and the use of new media. Participants were involved in the process of writing immersive scripts, participatory creation, distribution, and the funding of such works.
The DOC NOMADS Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) in Documentary Filmmaking is a two-year, full-time, European graduate program (120 ECTS) open to the world and delivered by a consortium of three universities in Portugal (ULHT – Lusófona University), Hungary (SZFE – University of Theatre and Film Arts), and Belgium (LUCA – School of Arts / College Sint Lukas).
