Twisted Tales awarded with the prestigious social innovation prize SozialMarie
On 1 May, at the grand opening of the ORF RadioKulturhaus in Vienna, Twisted Tales Educational Toolkit has been awarded with the SozialMarie prize.
Following the success at the Cartoon 360 in Barcelona, Spain in 2016, Cartoon Connection, Quebec, Canada in 2018, Kids Warsaw Forum, Poland, as well as the Mediamorfosis event in Lima, Peru, and in Medellin, Columbia in the same year, and Berlinale with Kids Regio, Berlin, Germany in 2019, Twisted Tales once again enthused the jury as a project with an innovative twist that designed a solution to urgent societal challenge and was awarded a prestigious SozialMarie prize in the field of social innovation endowed with 2,000 Euros.
In the field of social innovation Twisted Tales Educational Toolkit is aimed at educators and parents to teach kids critical life lessons through the Twisted Tales method of participatory teaching. In the Twisted Tales method, co-designed together with a child behaviour specialist, fairy tales become a tool to teach social values and skills, and the kids become stars of acceptance in their lives – through storytelling, drawing, sound creation, and animation.
In total 224 projects have been submitted for SozialMarie this year, 107 from Austria, 44 from Hungary, 32 from Slovakia, 14 from Croatia and 3 from Slovenia. On 1 May, for the 15th time, 15 social innovations have been awarded the SozialMarie at ORF RadioKulturhaus, among which Twisted Tales Educational Toolkit.
As the oldest prize for social innovation in Europe since 2005 SozialMarie honours every year 15 outstanding projects in the field of social innovation. Beyond a financial recognition adding up to 54,000 Euros, SozialMarie primarily offers a public platform for projects that by means of new approaches provide innovative answers to societal challenges.
