Twisted Tales Brings Creative Storytelling Workshops to South Africa
Twisted Tales TV — the internationally recognised storytelling and creative learning initiative — will be hosting immersive educational workshops at Manor Gardens Primary School in Durban and Sodwana Bay Primary School in Sodwana between 26 January and 2 February 2026.
Twisted Tales reimagines the world’s beloved fairy tales through a lens that emphasises empathy, collaboration, inclusion, and creative expression, empowering children to become co-creators rather than passive listeners. Grounded in an innovative educational methodology developed in partnership with psychologists and educators, the Twisted Tales workshops invite participants to engage with story structures, character development, and narrative play. These sessions are designed to support children in exploring meaningful themes — including identity, courage, belonging, and friendship — through creative activities such as storytelling, illustration, sound creation and group reflection.
During the workshops, learners aged 5–12 will participate in interactive modules that nurture creative confidence and critical thinking. Facilitators will guide students through a sequence of workshop experiences that challenge them to revisit familiar tales with fresh perspectives, encouraging empathy and deeper understanding of real-world emotions reflected in narratives.
These workshops align with current educational priorities that value student-centred learning, emotional intelligence, and social engagement. Teachers and support staff will also be provided with tools and take-home resources to help sustain creative learning beyond the workshop week.
Twisted Tales’ presence at these schools underscores a shared commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments where every child’s voice can flourish.
