Ukrainian Sheriffs in Maribor at Festival Lent w/ Dokudoc

The Web Doc was selected for Lent Festival, one of the oldest and largest open-air festivals in central Europe.

Ukrainian Sheriffs, Ukraine’s official entry for the 2017 Oscar Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, was screened at the 30th Lent Festival in Maribor, Slovenia on 29 June 2022. The screening was organized in collaboration with the Docudoc International Documentary Film Festival and the Institute for Transmedia Design. Although free of charge, voluntary funds raised were donated to Docudays, an NGO that, in cooperation with Tabor Film, set up a fund to support Ukrainian filmmakers who have remained in their homeland to document the war.

Back in 2016, the Institute for Transmedia Design started a wonderful collaboration with Roman Bondarchuk and Dar’ya Averchenko, the creators, and Uldis Cekulis, co-producer of the film Ukrainian Sheriffs. In a joint venture with three other partners, SOUTH NGO, VFS Films and Taskovski Film, we set out to develop a new way of transmedia film distribution, combining knowledge of documentary filmmaking, theatrical screening, and transmedia practice.
