Tech Tales Partner Forum in Barcelona
Last week, from 19 to 21 March 2025, our ITD team travelled to Barcelona, Spain, for an intensive partner forum in the framework of the project “Tech Tales: Fairy tales with a twist for the chidren of the present“.
Sara Božanić and Mateja Filipović-Sandalj participated in the intensive meeting, which brought a lot of knowledge, inspiration and new methodologies for the further development of the project.
Over the course of three days, members of out team joined the Tech Tales consortium and engaged in peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, creative discussions and practical sessions aimed at advancing the project’s methodologies and approaches to storytelling. The meeting was full of inspiration, new perspectives and practical tools that will shape the next steps of the team’s work.
What is Tech Tales?
Tech Tales is an EU-funded project that reimagines classic fairy tales through the themes of psychological, sexual, social and gender-based violence, helping young audiences (aged 6-14) to tackle stigma, stereotypes and prejudice. Through immersive audio stories, augmented reality (AR) books and interactive exhibitions, the project promotes empathy, resilience, inclusion and critical thinking in children.
Tech Tales is part of the wider Twisted Tales initiative, which has already gained international recognition. One of its standout stories, Cinda Real – a Cinderella retelling about a girl with one leg – was adapted into an award-winning animated film in 2022, demonstrating the power of inclusive storytelling.
What’s Next?
The project consortium is now focusing on co-creation workshops with children in schools across Europe, followed by the development of AR exhibitions that will take place in:
- Vienna, Austria at the Vienna Design Week (September 2026)
- Barcelona, Spain (December 2026)
- Cetinje, Montenegro at the Fluid Design Forum (April 2027)
- Wrocław, Poland (May 2027)
Follow us as we continue this exciting journey of storytelling, technology and social change!
Running from November 2024 to October 2027 with a €1.2 million budget, TECH TALES brings together seven partners from six European countries, including the lead organisation – the Institute for Transmedia Design (Slovenia) – and partners Art Rebel 9 (Slovenia), the Vienna Design Office(Austria), the NGO FLUX (Montenegro), ART TRANSPARENT(Poland), Grupa Hajde da … (Serbia), IAAC – FabLab Barcelona (Spain), with the aim of fostering empathy and creativity among children. The project is co-funded by the European Union.
